Elul 14: Learn

It is not our fault
what we don’t know

And yet
we bear some small responsibility
for figuring it out.

To learn
is to fail
many
many
many times and
to know when we are wrong
and need to try again.

This poem is in a series written during Elul, the Jewish month of reflection and repentance leading up to the Jewish New Year and Day of Atonement. The project is inspired by Rabbi Phyllis Anna Somer, @imabima. More info on her blog Ima on (and off) the Bima.
